The Ubuntu High School

At Ubuntu, one of our focuses is quality education for our boys. We believe education has the power to create a ripple effect of opportunity, champion our boys to become who they are destined to be, and lead to a better future for generations to come.
For the past 7 years, our boys have been attending a local partner school to ensure an excellent and individual-focused education. Next year, every Ubuntu boy who participates in our school scholarship program will be under the same roof; and at this point, excited is an understatement.
We are so thrilled to see our 22 high school boys step into this unique space. Some of them are looking into prep school, some are super strong academically, and there are also some with particular challenges that we are ready to meet head on. Ultimately, our hope is for each boy to be prepared for the pathway he wants to pursue when he graduates from Ubuntu Football Academy.
We will have career counseling on site providing the opportunity to really journey with each boy, so when he graduates, he has a clear idea of what he wants to pursue next. Our goal is to send our boys on to other excellent opportunities. These can include playing for professional football teams in South Africa or abroad, pursuing a university scholarship, or accepting gainful employment.
We value each boy and who he is, so we want to provide a space that caters to the individual needs of our students. A place created with them in mind, developing a love of learning, and creating a foundation for them to truly succeed as they graduate from the Academy.
Our high school program? It’s called Think DIGITAL College. It’s a South African virtual school that follows the national curriculum (CAPS), with a focus on producing young adults who are innovative, creative, and independent in their thinking. Each boy in our high school will be able to work at his own pace with intensive tutoring available through our volunteers and teachers who are backing this project.
What do we need? Computers, headphones, and a mouse for every student.
